Dr. Timothy Linksvayer

I joined the Penn Biology faculty in March 2011. Before that I was a EU Marie Curie Postdoctoral Fellow at the Centre for Social Evolution, University of Copenhagen, DK, and a US National Science Foundation Biological Informatics Postdoctoral Fellow at Arizona State University with Rob Page. I did my PhD in Evolution, Ecology, and Behavior at Indiana University with Mike Wade, and my BA in Biology at Carleton College.

Dr. Sandra Rehan - Post Doctoral Fellow

I completed my PhD on the social evolution of the small carpenter bees at Brock University, Canada in collaboration with Flinders University, Australia. Riley Graham - Graduate Student

I am generally interested in the evolution of complex social behaviors. I've studied complex brood parasitism interactions between African cichlid hosts and the cuckoo catfish (S. multipunctatus,) and my undergraduate thesis investigated parental interaction in a substrate-spawning cichlid. I hope to explore collective decision making in eusocial species and the genetic and epigenetic mechanisms that drive such processes.

Katie Miller - Lab Manager

I'm interested in the evolutionary and ecological mechanisms that influence ant behavior and colony dynamics. My previous work focused on linking the nutritional ecology of ants to biogeochemistry, organismal performance, functional traits, and biochemical characteristics in ants. I am currently broadening my research spectrum to include molecular genetics for the purpose of studying the evolution of complex social behavior in ants.

Aisling Zhao - Undergraduate Research Assistant

Aisling is a University of Pennsylvania Undergradute student studying Biochemistry. She is entering her Sophomore Year as of Fall, 2012.

Priya Patel - Undergraduate Research Assistant

Priya is entering her Junior year of study at The University of Pennsylvania as of the Fall semester, 2012. She is majoring in Cognitive Psychology.

Arielle Fogel - Undergraduate Research Assistant

Arielle is entering her Sophomore year at the University of Pennsylvania. She is spending the Fall semester of 2012 in London as part of a UPenn study abroad program.

Nadeesha Perera - Former Lab Manager

Nadeesha is the Linkvayer Lab's former lab manager. In the Fall semester of 2012, Nadeesha will begin a graduate student position at Duke University.
